Born and raised in the heart of South Metro Atlanta, Jonathan “Jon” Sexton is a proud Georgia native with deep Southern roots and an unwavering love for faith, family, and his community. Raised in a large and humble household, Jon learned early on that hard work, compassion, and integrity weren’t just values—they were a way of life.

A die-hard Georgia Bulldogs fan, Jon attended the University of Georgia, where he earned his degree in Criminal Justice in 1984. His journey was anything but easy. From 1980 to 1991, he worked tirelessly, often pulling night shifts and juggling multiple jobs—first to put himself through college, and later through law school while working in the common carrier industry from 1984-1988. That work ethic remains the cornerstone of his legal career to this day.

In 1991, Jon earned his Juris Doctor from Georgia State University College of Law and was admitted to the Georgia Bar. He began his legal career at a prominent civil litigation firm, cutting his teeth on multi-million dollar cases and high-stakes legal battles that gave him both courtroom experience and invaluable mentorship. But Jon always felt a calling to carve his own path—and in 1994, with limited resources but limitless drive, he founded Sexton Law Firm. Built on a foundation of faith, fairness, and fierce advocacy, the firm grew steadily, gaining a reputation across Georgia for client-centered representation and results grounded in justice.

In recent years, that legacy expanded with the formation of Sexton Weldon Law Firm, a partnership with attorney Jacob Weldon that brought together shared values and a deep commitment to helping others. As Senior Partner, Jon continues to lead with wisdom, compassion, and the belief that every client deserves to be heard, respected, and fought for.

Jon is licensed to practice in both Georgia and Florida, and is admitted to all Georgia courts, including the Georgia Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He specializes in personal injury, workers’ compensation, medical malpractice, and a wide range of civil torts. His professional affiliations include the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and past service as an area vice president of the American Association for
Justice.

Outside the courtroom, Jon is a man of deep faith and family devotion. He and his wife Joanna have been married for over 27 years and have raised three daughters on their small country farm in south-central Georgia. Jon is an active member of Rock Springs Church, where he teaches Sunday school, serves on several leadership boards, and chairs the board of Rock Springs Christian Academy. Faithfully moral, fiercely loyal, and fueled by a love for people and his hometown, Jon Sexton brings heart and principle to everything he does—whether he’s cheering for the Bulldogs on a fall Saturday or standing before a judge, fighting for justice on behalf of his clients.
